Another Flickr tool

In activity 3 of Learning 2.0 we have been looking at Flickr mashups and related Flickr tools. Reading Judy O'Connell's blog today I've been alerted to a new tool. Now if you already use Picasa, you can upload directly from there to Flickr.

I believe we also have Picasa installed on computers at school, so perhaps we could have students manage class images in Picasa and upload them to Flickr for sharing with other students, parents and classes. Think of the possibilities!

Flickr Mashups

The Flickr colour picker (or rather, Colr Pickr) is something which I must admit I found intriguing. I could sit there and click on and change colours over and over again. The pictures it brings up are simply excellent. It really shows how many people are capturing brilliant moments with their digital cameras.

I could see a great use for Flick in the Creative Arts KLA. Not only with children taking pictures themselves using photography as their media and posting to Flickr, but also for appreciating. There are some great pictures in which you could study elements such as line, colour, texture, tint and shade, and the list goes on.

I thought I'd link to a few pictures that grabbed my attention while using the colour picker. A number of them reminded me of last year's staff development day and the DVD we watched where we were challenged to look at things from a different perspective.

After some initial access issues around setting up my Yahoo account, I've got myself into Flickr and started looking around. Not content with linking to or uploading anyone else's photo, I thought I'd upload to Flikcr a photo of my own and post it.

Any Australian would need no explanation of the landmark in my photo that I captured while I was on excursion with my Year 4 on Wednesday. This pic of the Sydney Harbour Bridge was taken looking out from the north dome of the Sydney Observatory (one of the two venues for our space excursion).

At 75 years old, she's aging gracefully, isn't she?

The 7.5 Habits of Lifelong Learners

Which of the 7 1/2 habits do I find the easiest? Now let's see...

Perhaps beginning with the end in mind? Things are simpler when the goal can be envisaged.
Maybe using technology to your advantage? (I can hear the voices of my colleagues reading this blog - "duh!")
Hopefully play (yes, habit 7.5). It was play that got me started on most of this technology that I've been using as part of Learning 2.0: blogs, wikis, podcasting...

I'm not sure about what's most difficult. Maybe viewing problems as challenges. Some things for me are best avoided.

This is not my first attempt at blogging, but it is my first go with Blogger. Having used Wordpress and Edublogs before, it fortunately hasn't taken me long to get my head around a new service. By the way, Cherie, I've learnt how to change and add things in the sidebar (like lists of links).
